I hope that everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving weekend! Gordy and I have spent too much time relaxing, site-seeing and eating enormous amounts of food. Sounds like a typical Thanksgiving weekend to me. We will get the new pics posted soon.
Well, it’s official. Gordy and I were inducted into the Urbana Rotary this afternoon. Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.
So, for the next 50 years, Gordy and I will be busy every Tuesday at Noon at the Urbana Country Club. This week, there was a very interesting program called Open World. The Open World Program, operated by the Open World Leadership Center at the U.S. Library of Congress, is a special program available to Rotary clubs in the United States. Designed to give young emerging Russian leaders a firsthand look at the U.S. . political system, business, and community life the program also aims to promote understanding and forge bonds of friendship between the two nations. The Urbana Rotary hosted 4 Federal Judges from Russia and WOW, they were fantastic.
Jeremy Cirks and Gordy Hulten are coordinating a Republican petition drive on Saturday, November 12, at 1 PM at GOP HQ (106 W. Springfield, Champaign).
We will have petitions for the following candidates available:
- Congressman Tim Johnson
- Lieutenant Governor candidate Raymond Poe
- Secretary of State candidate Dan Rutherford
- State Senate Candidate Judy Myers
Any other petitions should be provided by the respective campaign or by the circulators. Of course, everyone is free to choose which petitions they’re willing to circulate.
We will also have lists of Republican voters in selected Champaign-Urbana neighborhoods, maps of those neighborhoods.
We will have refreshments available at 4 PM.
Please call or email Gordy (email@example.com or 369-4716) if you have any questions.
One of the more classic books of our generation is going to be out in theaters on December 9th. CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS, known as Jack to his friends, was born in 1898. Lewis and his good friend J. R. R. Tolkien, the author of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, were part of the Inklings, an informal writers’ club that met at a local pub to discuss story ideas. Lewis’s fascination with fairy tales, myths and ancient legends, coupled with inspiration drawn from his childhood, led him to write THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, one of the best-loved books of all time.
I am definitely going to re-read the book before it comes out!
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Annual 2005 Hulten Halloween Bash. It was a blast. Don’t miss the photo album under "Gallery" and see some highlights of the hilarious costumes and decorations. There seems to be a long blonde in a lot of the photos that is not me. Not sure where she came from, but she is quite cute and her facial expressions (appearance) seems to change a lot…
